Derricks restaurant is located inside Black Gold Golf Club's beautiful regal 20,000 square foot clubhouse which sits elegantly on top of a hill overlooking all of Yorba Linda and the rest of Orange County. The clubhouse features banquet facilities for 250+ guests, panoramic views of the golf course. Enjoy your meal inside, or on our beautiful covered patio that overlooks the 18th green waterfall, lake and rolling vistas.
About the Chef: Chef Gustavo Marin
Gustavo’s love of food and the culinary arts may have been a learned trait but it also may have been inherited. Gus has been virtually surrounded by wonderful cooking and the restaurant industry all his life.
At the age of 2, Gus was assisting his father, the saucier of Hungry Tiger Corp, and learning the secrets to fine cuisine. After finishing his formal culinary education in Santa Barbara, Gus completed his Garde Manger certificate in Pasadena. Doing his apprenticeship in the kitchens of the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel was the experience Gus needed to make an easy transition to the food and beverage dept at Sea Cliff Country Club. After 26 years at Sea Cliff (16 yrs as Executive chef), Gus went to work for our sister property, Vellano Country Club. Due to a change in Vellano ownership, we were lucky enough to keep Chef Gus with Kemper Sports as Executive chef at Derricks at Black Gold Golf Club.
Chef Gus is a talented and creative chef who enjoys spending time at the produce market, preparing fabulous food and learning new culinary trends. Anyone who has ever known Gus will agree, he is kind and helpful, with a passion for food.
