The Black Gold Golf Club Story....

Black Gold Golf Club, an Arthur Hills championship designed golf course, is Orange County's newest public daily fee premiere golf facility. The club's name is a by-product of its location, built on the old Shell Oil Field in the foothills above Yorba Linda. The golf club is the focal point of the Vista Del Verde master planned community which eventually will include 1700+ homes, two parks and an elementary school.

Black Gold is "Presidential in Nature" as this Arthur Hills designed public-only facility is located ½ mile east of The Richard. M. Nixon Library and Birthplace.

The golf club is easily accessible from Imperial Highway (90) (map and directions).  Black Gold is only minutes away from the 91 Freeway which is accessible from Interstate 5 and 15 and State Routes 55, 57 and 60. Its central location assists avid golfers looking to play a premiere course in Southern California on a moment's notice. The course has become a favorite of native Southern Californians as well as tourists visiting Disneyland and the Anaheim Resort area, as Black Gold is only a short 25-minute drive away from all that Anaheim has to offer.

In 2000, renowned architect Arthur Hills designed two top 10 rated best new golf courses in the United States (Golf and Links Magazine).

Among the 150+ golf courses that Hills has designed, some of the standouts include Harbor Pointe near Seattle, WA, Half Moon Bay near San Francisco, CA, Big Horn Golf Club in Palm Desert, CA and Bay Harbor in Northern Michigan (Petoskey, MI).  According to Arthur Hills, "players of all abilities will find Black Gold a dramatic composition of beauty, challenge and strategic options."

The challenging par 72 layout stretches 6756 yards (depending which of the five sets of tees you choose to play). It incorporates several water features including a stunning waterfall off the 18th green, slight elevation changes, rolling hills, strategic bunkering and the most incredible vistas overlooking all of Orange County and Long Beach. On a clear day golfers can view the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island from several points along the course. The 12th tee-box provides the best panoramic views, as it is the highest elevation point of any golf course in Orange County. On the east side of the property, the golf course borders the undisturbed Chino Hills State Park. The greens are Bent Grass (smooth, soft and fast) and the fairways and rough are a mix of Kentucky Blue Grass and Rye perfect for a pressure filled iron shot.

Black Gold offers "Best In Class" course conditioning and VIP customer service, both of which are top priorities of our experienced staff. Our goal is to be on the short list of courses in Southern California that offer a tournament conditioned golf course with curb-to-curb customer service that everyone expects from a great facility. We also incorporate the technology of a Global Positioning System (GPS) on every cart that gives players exact yardage to the pin and allows them to order food at the turn or keep score during a tournament.
